DOMINIC STAUN – CONSULTANT
Dominic Staun is a professional management executive with 25 years experience at senior levels in major organisations in both the public and private
Dominic most recent employer was the Australian Government Department of Finance and Deregulation. From 2000 to 2007, Dominic was the Chief Finance Officer, adding in 2001 the role of Chief Information Officer. From 2008 to 2011, Dominic was posted to Papua New Guinea under an AusAID program, as Deputy Secretary Strategy in the Department of Finance, with a particular focus on mentoring and support to build capacity across the PNG public service through the establishment and operation of effective audit committees and internal audit units.
Since returning to Canberra, Dominic has worked as an independent consultant, conducting professional development courses, undertaking Gateway reviews, and providing advice and assistance to a number of Australian Government departments in the areas of internal audit, risk management and business planning.
With extensive experience and understanding of Government policy and the public sector, Dominic has high order skills in:
- cultural intelligence, mentoring and capacity building
- strategic management, business planning and change management
- governance, risk management and assurance
- financial management and information technology
- analytical reviews and problem solving.
Dominic has a Bachelor degree in Arts from Canberra University and an Honours Masters degree from the University of NSW. Dominic is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
